Flu

Wed Jul 15, 2009, 12:11 PM
So who is afraid of getting swine flu and the possibility of dying? I am just wondering if the hysteria has spread at all..

My brother is pretty scared about the whole thing, but this is because even if he got a common cold he would be in hospital fighting for his life pretty quickly. That's the problem of having weak muscles, your lungs, heart and everything else that needs to work to get rid of illness just cant live up to it..quite literately.

Travelling around in my mums car has meant that I have been listening to debates on the radio, and when they were talking about swine flu - this woman phoned up saying how her two daughters both had it and one of them suffers from asthma, so she called the helpline and couldn't answer the question if her daughters breathing was laboured..and so in the end they sent paramedics. Who to her disgust and disgrace turned up with masks and special aprons on, and refused to take her because she wasn't ill enough. . I think that this idea of keeping really sick highly contagious people away from hospitals is the best idea, it stops it spreading faster and harder and being more likely to mutate. Why can't people see that?? And more specifically why cant she see that? I mean sure if she was actually in a critical condition they can and will take her..but she wasn't, she was just suffering from the flu.

And why can't anyone remember the numbers of people that die of NORMAL strain of flu every year..!?

Damn you, media!!

P.s. I totally just built a sofa bed all by myself! Go me!!
